Administrative Assistant

Full Time Continuing Position

Anishnawbe Health Toronto (AHT) a fully accredited community health centre offers access to health care practitioners from many disciplines including Traditional Healers, Elders and Medicine People.

Position Summary:

  • The Administrative Assistant ensures that the functions of the position are performed reflecting the culture-based model of the organization that emphasizes traditional teachings, methods and healing approaches. The position provides general management and administrative support to the Executive Director and the Management Team.

Functions Summary:

  • The functions include but are not limited to: minute taking, support to Board of Directors, keeping Circle of Care Manual current, quality assurance of AHT web site, site tours, participation in budget review and planning, timely collection of reports and information from unit managers; maintain electronic filing system; assist with research & development and drafting of special reports, submissions, studies and funding proposals; word processing and distributing a variety of communications; coordinating meetings, appointments, conference calls and travel arrangements; maintaining and submitting expenses; and providing briefings and information that requires attention, consideration or action coupled with responding to calls and emails on behalf of Management Team members. Qualifications and Experience

  • Preferred is a College Diploma
  • Minimum is Certificate in related field of study, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of the Aboriginal community and culture is a must
  • Minimum 5 years of work and/or volunteer experience in an administrative role
  • Work Experience in either a health or social service environment
  • Ability to function as a highly organized, accountable and self-directed administrator
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels, and with Board members and external contacts
  • Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills
  • Technically proficient with excellent knowledge of office equipment, Microsoft Office applications, electronic filing systems, document management systems and posting web site content
