The Office of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking leader to serve as the Assistant Vice-President, Business Development and Strategic Initiatives. Reporting to the Vice-President, Research and Innovation, the Assistant Vice-President is responsible for scaling Ryerson’s SRC enterprise by building awareness, expanding networks and partnerships and elevating Ryerson’s visibility, reputation and profile at a national and international level. A senior administrative leader within the portfolio, the new Assistant Vice-President, Business Development and Strategic Initiatives will proactively pursue new business development opportunities, projects, and initiatives to optimize and expand business growth; establish and develop collaborative external networks and partnerships; lead the development of a strategy focused on developing, sustaining and expanding Ryerson’s SRC ecosystem activities; and promote the alignment between innovation and research through enhanced commercialization, knowledge translation and mobilization.
As the ideal candidate, you are a creative, innovative thinker and strategic leader. An articulate communicator, you have demonstrated exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and networking abilities. You excel in large-scale project and program management and you thrive on delivering successful results using sound judgement and decision-making. You ideally possess a professional or Masters’ degree in Business Administration, Management or a related field; a minimum ten (10) years’ senior leadership experience working in a large, complex organization with relevant experience in business development, entrepreneurial and/or innovation activities; and experience working in a post-secondary institution, successfully managing business development. You are familiar with accelerators and incubators and possess demonstrated experience leading large-scale concurrent projects with a team of experts within a matrix environment. You have managed a diverse set of stakeholders and complex relationships across different lines of business including sourcing, building and leveraging partnerships.
