Scotiabank’s Commercial Banking group is seeking a Client Relationship Manager to generate business from the commercial market and develop a strong centre influence network in Guelph, ON.Commercial Banking provides mid-market and independent business clients throughout Canada with innovative borrowing solutions for financing growth, money management services to help efficiently manage cash flow, and tools and strategies to mitigate business risks.
The Client Relationship Manager (CRM) is a product generalist who possesses a good understanding of financial products and services and focuses on the cross-sell, up-sell and retention of existing commercial customers. You will be responsible for identifying prospects in target markets, developing prospect acquisition strategies, maintaining prospect relationships, maintaining a sustainable proposed sales pipeline, conducting prospect sales calls and qualifying opportunities based on customer information and a high level of due diligence.
You will manage a customer portfolio of lower to moderate complexity, with business development activities that target clients with credit authorizations up to $3MM and/or client annual sales from $5MM- $15MM (minimum target account loading of 35 borrowing relationships).
The successful candidate should have a thorough understanding of commercial credit, financial statement analysis, client relationship management and has proven sales skills.
*Developing and implementing a marketing strategy to maximize business development opportunities for sustainable growth;
*Developing sales plans for prospects and existing customers;
* Identifying prospects/referrals from other internal/external networks;
*Pursues a business development program within the assigned market area by maintaining an appropriate ongoing sales pipeline and calling program;
*Direct selling of credit and non-credit commercial products to prospects and customers;
*Builds and maintains a market profile in the assigned market area with both internal and external contacts;
*Ensures all aspects of assigned relationships receive ongoing attention, as required to maintain, improve, grow and retain the relationship;
*Safeguards the Bank’s assets and liabilities by maintaining the quality of assigned portfolio;
*Manage an assigned credit portfolio at an acceptable level of risk.
*2 to 3 years of previous sales commercial banking experience or in the finance industry;
*Strong interpersonal and communication skills in order to develop and maintain relationships with Commercial business customers;
*Thorough knowledge of commercial lending and deposit products and services, and customer profitability model in order to provide integrated financial solutions;
*Proven client prospecting and relationship maintenance/growth skills;
*Expert sales/closing skills;
*Proven ability to negotiate fees and structure;
*Intermediate credit skills and an understanding of financial analysis, risk analysis techniques and credit adjudication;
*Must have a strong knowledge of the commercial banking marketplace in Canada and detailed knowledge of the assigned market;
*Natural curiosity and passion for satisfying customer needs;
*The ability to operate in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
*Undergraduate degree in business, commerce, finance or work equivalency.
