The Consultation Officer reports to the Director of Community Services and is responsible for supporting the Council’s community consultation and engagement strategy, as well as taking a lead on developing and maintaining a suite of consultation and engagement channels and delivering consultation projects. Ensuring that the community consultation and engagement feedback loop is complete, presenting findings in an engaging way and effectively enabling community members to get involved and give their views.
The Consultation Officer will coordinate the receipt, analysis, and response to a variety of consultation requests from the Governments of Canada and Ontario as well as municipalities and private sector interests for various projects and initiatives throughout the traditional territory of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte (MBQ).
Essential Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Completion of a university degree, relevant professional qualification or equivalent work experience
- A minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience in the following areas:
- Working in the field of consultation and research, either through a research agency, local authority or a similar type of organization.
- Developing and maintaining consultation and engagement tools, including online and ideally interactive methods
- Leading and delivering consultation and engagement projects that meet statutory and legal requirements
- Procuring consultation and research and ensuring effective performance by contractors
- Providing guidance and quality assurance to colleagues on a consultation, engagement and research projects
- Providing engaging written feedback on findings to colleagues and residents across a range of channels
- Knowledge and experience of using social research techniques, both qualitative and quantitative
- An understanding of the workings of local government including the current issues and challenges
- Knowledge of economic and resource development issues facing the province (asset)
- Communication (verbal) – Ability to be diplomatic and tactful, exercising discretion

- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
- Possess a valid class “G” Driver license, and clear driver abstract
