Position Summary : Investigates the seismic shifts in the contemporary politics of the Middle East. Despite the optimism expressed in recent years, the Middle East remains a region fraught with enduring contradictions and challenges. The course’s focus on contemporary political life in the context of current social and political fault lines and relations will aid students in arriving at a more nuanced understanding of Middle East politics and in dismantling common stereotypes about the region.
