An introduction to academic writing, reading, and research at the university level. This course covers different genres of academic writing such as the book review, annotated bibliography, and research essay, in addition to citation and documentation techniques. Students gain practical experience through in-class writing exercises and a series of linked assignments. Includes opportunities for instructor and peer assessment, and also promotes a reflexive approach to writing as a process by helping students develop strategies for self-evaluation and improvement.
