The Office of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation is seeking a strategic leader with a strong client-service orientation to oversee a growing research enterprise in the role of Executive Director, Research Services. Reporting to the Vice-President, Research and Innovation, the Executive Director provides leadership and direction to the research community in order to maximize the University’s participation and success in both traditional funding via Tri-Agencies as well as new funding opportunities, including international funding. The Executive Director oversees the delivery of research funding support services including grant facilitation programs, research ethics, policy compliance, and programming to faculty. The Executive Director will represent and promote Ryerson University externally to increase successful SRC activities and will develop, sustain, and expand a research ecosystem in order to raise Ryerson’s national and international awareness, visibility, and reputation. The Executive Director will foster a service culture in the portfolio by ensuring supportive systems and processes are in place to build on excellence and seize opportunities in a highly competitive environment.
As the ideal candidate, you have facilitated institutions, faculty, and partners in securing research funding and are well versed in regulatory research compliance. You are a strategic leader and a highly skilled project manager with a track record of delivering results. You are extremely well versed in the development and administration of successfully funded research proposals. An exceptional communicator and collaborator, you can clearly articulate a vision and engage others in working towards its successful achievement. You ideally possess a professional or Masters’ degree in Research Administration or Business Administration or a related field; a minimum ten (10) years of experience in an institutional leadership role working in a university setting, including relevant administrative experience and support of post doctorate, graduate and undergraduate research; as well as extensive experience in contract administration, research funding and negotiation.
