Monitor the transmission and distribution system assets on a 24-hour basis.
Prioritize trouble calls and relay information to stakeholders.
Will possess clerical / technical, customer relations and leadership skills
Respond and identify planned or unplanned service interruptions and notify customers individually or through the use of IVR or other computerized systems
Recommend priority of response to emergencies or incidents, such as fire, spills, accidents, injuries, bomb threats, workers in distress and implement emergency procedures as per the Emergency Preparedness Plan
Identify problems, issues and opportunities for improvement / corrective action.
Effectively respond to and proactively inform internal / external stakeholders and customers.
Monitor location of designated personnel on a 24-hour basis. Relay information to stakeholders on a priority basis and upon the availability and proximity of crews.
Maintain an operating log.
Provide operational expertise to all departments. Monitor weather, forecast impact on transmission / distribution systems, notify stakeholders and service providers.
Assist in development of policies, procedures and operating agreements, improved processes, etc.
Respond to Emergency Transmission / Distribution Underground Cable Locates Distribution
Monitor, update, verify and extract data, using computer application programs, ensuring that accuracy and timeliness are maintained.
Monitor Distribution Station status using links to the operational systems.
Check statistical computations, ensuring that current statistics are maintained and consistent with the changes in the job data as provided by GIS, Outage Response Management Systems, etc.
Produce reports as required/scheduled. Assist stakeholders by contacting appropriate resource people with regards to system/equipment malfunctions.
Refer more complex technical problems or issues associated with corporate policy, procedures, or interpretation of it to Grid Operations Manager.
Perform a variety of clerical/administrative tasks.
This classification is capable of performing all or part of the function depending on the needs of the job.
Other duties as required
Operate an on-line computer terminal (NMS / ORMS etc) as required, to utilize databases related to system programs as required to record, update and report statistical information.
Monitor update, and extract data, using computer application programs, ensuring that accuracy and timeliness are maintained.
Utilizing standalone computer programs, input, update, and extract data. Produce reports as required/scheduled.
Requires the knowledge that is acquired by an Ontario Secondary School OAC Diploma (Grade 13, note: currently Grade 12) requirement or equivalent level of education along with advance course credits in English, Mathematics, Physics and computer applications.
Requires knowledge of electrical theory and practices
Additional educational requirements for each level in the Ontario Grid Control Centre will be normally acquired through the Ontario Grid Control Centre Training Program or equivalent
Requires excellent interpersonal, communication and customer relation skills to interact effectively with co-workers, internal and external contacts.
Requires demonstrated problem solving skills with emphasis to thoroughness and attention to detail.
Must continue to maintain qualifications / certifications applicable to the Grid Operations Dispatcher classification.
Requires computer skills to be able to utilize databases, input and extract data and produce reports on an on-line computer terminal as well as operate network system programs as required to record, update and report statistical information ensuring that accuracy and timeliness are maintained.
Selected Candidates will be required to participate in the Grid Operations Dispatcher/Trainee training program. There is a requirement for all Grid Operations Dispatcher / Trainee staff to rotate on and off shift in all positions of the Grid Operations Dispatcher / Trainee job function as well as participate in training to further staff development and support business strategy and objectives.
