WLUFA Part-time Instructor – Tutorials – GS220: Being Human: Cultural Analysis in a Global Age (Tutorials)

Course Description:
A multi-disciplinary introduction to some key concepts and theories used in global studies to understand humans as social and cultural beings. Emphasis is placed on the impacts of European imperialism and colonialism on cultures and on the concepts available for thinking about these issues. The course addresses topics such as cosmology, kinship, gender, race, modernity, nationhood, liberalism, and the politics of cultural recognition.

Regular responsibilities include offering supplemental explanation to support student learning of course content, facilitating tutorial discussions and related activities, consulting with students, and marking/grading; the tutorial instructor(s) will also be expected to meet with the course lecturer on a regular basis throughout the term.

Qualifications – Required : Master’s Degree
Qualifications – Discipline : Humanities or Social Sciences
Qualifications – Areas of Specialization : culture, societ, and social relations or related field; previous teaching experience preferred
Salary : $2,700/tutorial (3 tutorials = one stipend $8,100)
