Position Summary :

The Department of Health Sciences at Wilfrid Laurier University invites applications for a one-year limited term appointment in the Department of Health Sciences at the Assistant Professor rank beginning July 1, 2019, subject to budgetary approval.

The successful applicant will be an emerging scholar with expertise in the Canadian health care systems and global health issues, with a commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level. The teaching load for this position will be five one-semester courses a year.

Applicants must have a PhD in Global Health, Health Services Research, Health Systems Research, Population Health, or Health Policy (or a closely-related health area). The successful candidate will have a strong record of teaching and a commitment to student mentorship, including evidence of course development in the health sciences. The successful applicant will also have a demonstrated ability to teach in the areas of introductory health issues, the Canadian health care system, and global health. The ideal candidate will have already developed a track-record of academic publications; success in obtaining research funding from Tri-Council and/or other sources would be considered an asset.

The Department of Health Sciences is multidisciplinary in scope offering a broad range of courses that span the natural sciences, as well as courses that apply social science and health methods and theories to health issues. As such, we offer students a unique ‘cell to society’ approach to understanding the complexity of human health.
