Job Description:

Feed or assist in feeding
Shop for food and household supplies
Provide personal care
Provide companionship
Plan therapeutic diets and menus
Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties
Assist client with bathing and other aspects of personal hygiene
Launder clothing and household linens
Assist in regular exercise, e.g., walk
Assume full responsibility for household (in absence of householder)
Mend clothing and linens
Assist clients in water (i.e. pool)
Coach client with spelling, reading, money and life skills training.
Coach client on travelling on the TTC
Administer medications
Administer bedside and personal care
Prepare and serve nutritious meals
Take client to activities, school and doctor’s appointments
Be in constant communication with the employer due to the fact that the person receiving care is not able to talk.

-Education: Completion of high school
-Experience: At least one year of full-time experience as a caregiver or personal care attendant is required
-Valid driver’s license is an asset
-Basic ASL knowledge is an asset
-Occasional evening and weekend work required

Salary: $16.00 to $18.00 hourly, 40 Hours per week

Important Information:
The home support worker will be responsible for the care of a 16-year-old girl with special needs who communicates using sign language, is deaf and needs assistance to walk and keep her personal hygiene habits
No latex and no band-aids allowed
Work schedule: 5 days per week, split shifts from 6:00 AM to 10:00 and from 2:00 to 6:00 PM. Two days off on a rotational basis.
