IT Director, Technology Services

Express Scripts Canada (ESC) is seeking a Director of Technology Services who is looking for a challenge and loves an innovative work environment. In this role you will assist the team in building, improving, and maintaining a world class private cloud environment. You will roll up your sleeves to lead a team of technology engineers with a growing base of expertise in infrastructure-as-a-service and platform-as-a-service, in designing, developing, integrating, and testing a complex private cloud ecosystem dedicated to that Express Scripts Canada. You should have extensive experience working with virtualization, cloud infrastructure architectures, storage systems, databases, networks, monitoring, and platforms that support applications built with micro-services and container along with continuous integration and deployment toolsets.  You should possess excellent communication skills, and a drive to make a significant impact in the ways Canadians benefit from leading edge health benefits services. Expect to take ownership of a technical vision, to take the lead on key architectural decisions, to mentor a growing team, and to hold a high standard in production availability and performance.

Working closely with the CIO for Express Scripts Canada, you will take on the role of the Express Scripts Canada Security officer, and in addition to acting as a member of the technology leadership team.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead and mentor a high performing team with a focus on growing a DEVOPS culture
  • Ensure consistent, and timely delivery of new/enhanced infrastructure/platforms to meet anticipated growth and while remaining cost-effective
  • Effectively coordinate and manage multiple implementations across internal, customer and vendor teams.
  • Develop and oversee of policies and programs intended for the mitigation and/or reduction of compliance, operational, strategic, financial and reputational security risk strategies relating to the protection of people, intellectual assets and tangible property
  • Assist in customer and corporate initiated audits
  • Effectively deliver on end-user computing experience, oversee the internal help desk and the delivery of technical support for the organization
  • Manage facility leases and enhance cross-Canada facilities to meet growing needs
  • Prepare and manage annual departmental and project budgets
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and performance management activities
  • Recruit, retain and develop top talent.
  • On-call Escalation point for Incident Management Process, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of directly related work experience in a technology role that involves a strong business acumen, 5 of which should be in a Supervisory/Management role
  • STEM education, preferably Computer Science, Programming, Engineering or a related field
  • Thorough knowledge of virtualization, cloud infrastructure architectures, storage, databases, networks, monitoring, security, privacy concepts, design, procedures and best practices.
  • Experience with scaling and optimizing systems both for production reliability as well as customer experience
  • Experience in deploying and maintaining distributed systems
  • 5+ years managing outsourced Datacenter operations
  • Familiarity with ITIL Change Management, Configuration Management and Incident Management
  • Advanced problem solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to resolve complex issues with innovative solutions
  • Ability to motivate and provide leadership and mentoring to employees and create a DEVOPS culture that supports high performance teams.
  • Strong customer service focus and ability to work with business leaders
  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment and make independent decisions
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills including the ability to enforce standards and methodology
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate project deadlines, limited travel and on call rotation
  • Excellent contract negotiation and vendor management skills
  • Understanding of Information Risk Management/Information Security
