The Niagara Peninsula Aboriginal Area Management Board is currently seeking a:

JOURNEY PROGRAM SUPPORT WORKER

7 Month Contract Position (40 Hours per week) – with possibility of extension

Location: Niagara Falls, ON and various locations within Southern Ontario

(Including Fort Erie, St. Catharines, Hamilton, Brantford and Kitchener-Waterloo)

Under the direction of the NPAAMB Executive Director and supervision of Senior Project Manager/Project Coordinator, the Journey Program Support Worker is responsible to assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of “The Journey Program” (life skills and employability program). The support worker will work closely with the Journey Program Project Coordinator to deliver the 10-week group based community traininig in 5 the catchment areas.

Main responsibilities include: assisting the Journey Program Coordinator with progam development – provide actionable input into the development and design of the 10-week lifeskills program curriculum. Implementation/service delivery – direct delivery of components of the 10-week approved traininig curriculum. Evaluation – assist the Project Coordinator and Evaluation consultant with administering the data collection tools related to the evaluation plan. Assist the Project Coordinator with client case management.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated proven experiences with:

  • Employment and/or peer counseling, group facilitation, client case management and file maintenance procesures, strong communication and interpersonal skills, proficiency in developing reports within strict deadlines; thorough understanding and proficiency with client management database systems
  • A proven self starter with strong planning, time management, analytical skills, adept computer skills, ability to develop and implement project work plans, evaluation frameworks utilizing indigenous methodologies.
  • Post secondary education in Social Services, Education or Community Development or 1-3 years experience in program planning, development and implentation.

The successful candidate must have a valid driver’s license and ability to travel within Southern Ontario on regular basis to other office locations to fulfill the duties of the position.
