General Accountabilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation across the organization of the Asset Management best practices consistent with the fundamentals of ISO55000 including policy, strategy and process to optimize levels of service and performance.
  • Liaise with specialists in areas of mutual interest related to Asset Management and integrate recommendations into business practices
  • Lead change management and transformation initiatives related to asset and risk management
  • Coordinate cost savings initiatives across Operations, including data collection, validation and communication.
  • Develop, maintain and improve a quality management framework to ensure deliverables meet customer expectations and requirements; ensure effective integration with all enterprise information tools, systems, processes, platforms, software, and systems of record.
  • Provide centralized support to divisional improvement initiatives, including leading solutions to address systemic issues raised from within Planning and Engineering.
  • Foster a culture of sustainable change through the creation and embedding of industry best practice process improvement methodologies, and the supporting framework, to deliver asset management transformation.
  • Work with key business stakeholders to build and implement a best-in-class continuous improvement strategy focused on driving outcomes valued by customers and other stakeholders.
  • Enable improved value and greater efficiency through the identification performance improvement opportunities and the elimination of unnecessary complexity.
  • Build and develop improved operations, processes and procedures to support growth and continuous improvement
  • Work with key stakeholders to foster and develop continuous improvement initiatives, including influencing other parties to adopt a course of action that is suitable for Hydro One
  • Lead the development and implementation of a formal post-implementation review process through the assessment, validation and identification of benefit opportunities across Operations to foster continuous improvement in projects and helping to ensure projects provide value for money for customer.
  • Apply a sound knowledge power systems planning, construction, maintenance and disposal.
  • Assign duties and make decisions regarding staff and organizational changes. Provide guidance relative to staff problems and disciplinary issues. Authorize expense reports and administer pay. Provide performance feedback and assess capability.
  • Ensure high quality services are provided in a cost effective and timely manner, while ensuring compliance with Hydro One policy, standards and specifications and all applicable environmental laws and regulations.
  • Participate in internal and external Committees as required including attending meetings with other lines of business and participation in professional technical committees.
  • Create value for our customers by managing financial aspects of work programs, and creating efficiencies within work programs.
  • Demonstrate visible leadership to develop and maintain a safe and healthy workplace.

Essential Knowledge

Selection Criteria:

  • Minimum 10 years business experience.
  • Sound knowledge of project management principles including budget and schedules, consultant oversight, and tracking of work flow and deliverables
  • Proven leadership skills with the demonstrated ability to lead a team of professionals and influence and collaborate with individuals at all levels within the organization.
  • Must possess excellent communication and negotiation skills with a focus on providing project requirements in a manner which meets industry requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and executing work flows and programs affecting multiple lines of business.
  • Solid understanding of various legislation, guidelines and industry best practices and experience interacting with regulatory bodies.
  • Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to manage and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Experience in supporting infrastructure design and construction in the electricity industry.
  • Master’s Degree (Business or Engineering) or combination of education and related experience is preferred
  • Ability to work strategically and collaboratively across departments
  • Effective, versatile and action-oriented
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in challenging roles
