Scrum Master

The Scrum Master conducts all agile ceremonies within a development team from daily stand-up to sprint retrospective.  Within these ceremonies, the Scrum Master promotes a culture of continuous improvement by mitigating team impediments, seeking productivity improvements, and empowering others. The Scrum Master is responsible for growing team maturity and escalating impediments and other team/individual observations to the engineering manager/director.


  • Conduct all agile ceremonies within multiple development team by serving and coaching the product owner and development team in their quest to enable business agility to deliver on customers’ needs and desires. Includes facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.
  • Through servant leadership, help promote a culture of experimentation that enables our business partners to push software out to customers quickly, safely, and inexpensively so they can iterate on the right product to build and deliver. Includes building a trusting and safe environment where challenges are openly discussed.
  • Coach and guide the development team on continuously improving to become a high-functioning team and getting the most out of self-organization.
  • Remove impediments or guide the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment.
  • Assess the Scrum Maturity of the team and organization and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization
  • Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information.
  • Support and coach the Product Owner, especially with respect to refining and managing the product backlog.


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field desired
  • 5-8 years relevant experience, or Master’s degree and 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • In-depth experience using JIRA and Confluence required
  • Scrum Master certified by an accredited institute.
  • At least one-year experience as a scrum master for a software development team.
  • Skilled and knowledgeable of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continuous improvement, empowerment of others, and transparency.
  • Knowledge of numerous well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burn down techniques, numerous Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc.).
  • Ability to work in other frameworks beyond scrum (such as Kanban, XP). High emotional intelligence.
