Express Scripts Canada (ESC) is seeking a Database Administrator, with expertise in leveraging Microsoft SQLServer databases to support analytics reporting. In this role you will assist the team in building, improving, and maintaining a world class data analytics environment. You will roll up your sleeves to work with a team of technology engineers with a growing base of expertise in infrastructure-as-a-service and platform-as-a-service, in designing, developing, integrating, and testing a data analytics environment dedicated to that Express Scripts Canada. You should have extensive experience working with Microsoft database and related analytics technologies deployed in a clustered environment. You should possess excellent communication skills, and a drive to make a significant impact in the ways Canadians benefit from leading edge health benefits services. Expect to take ownership of on key architectural decisions related to the analytics database, to collaborate closely with a growing team, and to hold a high standard in production availability and performance.
Design, develop, maintain and document logical and physical database deployment patterns with automation, scalability foremost in your thought process
Demonstrate a high degree of proficiency in working with structured data, including collating disparate data sets from many sources
Standardize, normalize and/or de-normalizing data sets
Develop and/or assist in the design, development of extract transfer and load (ETL) processes
Work with business and technical stakeholders to solve abstract business problems and thriving in an environment where every day is a new challenge to ensure successful delivery of projects
Work with Database Architect and other systems architects to ensure proper database architecture is designed into business requirements for projects from the ground up
Provide maintenance and support on a rotational basis for all database systems including patching, tuning and troubleshooting
Peer-evaluate production deployment plans
Develop automation scripts both monitor and maintain the systems and to support applications
Maintain detailed design documents with all changes
Post-secondary degree in computer science, information systems or computer engineering
5+ years of data warehousing experience in a complex highly regulated environments; with emphasis on HA in an active/active network environment
Extensive knowledge of MS Office tools including MS Project and MS Excel
Experience in SQL Server 2016+ SSAS, SSIS
Experience in MS SQL Server Database Administration
Experience using one or more programming languages
Ability to work both independently, with other team members, and across teams
Able to work in a fast-paced environment where priority changes occur often
Able to work with distributed teams spread across multiple time zones
Ability to communicate technical information in a concise, understandable and accurate fashion to non-technical personnel
Demonstrated ability to prioritize work load and meet multiple project deadlines
Willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate project deadlines and escalations
