Manage data modeling of the distribution electrical system; for purposes of real-time monitoring and control systems relating to the distribution management system (DMS) used in the OGCC and in other distribution operating / monitoring and planning centres.
Perform full life cycle support of computer applications and databases required for supporting the real-time monitoring and control of the distribution system.
Provide input to distribution operating strategy development.
Negotiate conditions of satisfaction with distribution operations staff for products/services and deliver on time/within budget.
Assist distribution operations staff, re-engineer business processes and develop value-added information technology needs.
Provide project management support, technical leadership and system expertise to projects and teams involved in the design and support of advanced information systems and tools.
Manage the evolution of existing network application and database tools by implementing enhancements to provide additional functionality, problem correction, reliability and availability improvements.
Manage tasks undertaken by vendors by specifying requirements, monitoring the technical implementation and performing formal acceptance procedures.
Perform ongoing audits to assess compliance or required improvements.
Research commercial products and tools which can be used in the design and/or support of operating tools.

Essential Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications:
Requires an advanced knowledge of computers, programming, database management and power system engineering and theory. This knowledge is normally acquired through the completion of four years of University training or equivalent plus up to 10 years relevant experience.
Eight to ten years of experience as a specialist in the sustainment of a real-time SCADA system in a large scale distribution operating centre.
Requires an in-depth understanding of the Hydro One distribution system
Experience with change control, source control, and release procedures as it relates to the operation of computer systems in a distribution operation centre.
In-depth knowledge and working experience with data modeling of the power system for the Distribution Management System (DMS) including interactions with other data and control systems within Hydro One.
In-depth knowledge and working experience with data modeling of the SCADA system for the DMS including interactions with field devices and other SCADA systems inside and outside of Hydro One.
In-depth knowledge and working experience with the sustainment of the data repository for the operation centre.
Working experience with programming languages such as Perl, SQL programming, C, C++, Visual Basic, Fortran, etc.
Experience in analyzing user requirements, formulating detailed specifications, contributing to system design and systems integration, meeting quality assurance testing and delivering user training for supplied tools and applications
