is currently looking to fill the following position:

High School Science/Math/Music/Geography

Applicants need not be qualified in all subject areas, but must possess the skills and experience to successfully teach all listed subjects.

Long Lake #58 First Nation is geographically located on Highway 11 near Longlac, Ontario. Migizi Wazisin Elementary School has approximately 100 students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8. Migizi Miigwanan Secondary School, opened in 2013, is located beside the Elementary School and has approximately 60 students from grades 9 to 12. Staff and students are involved in cultural programming in all areas of the curriculum which can take place daily. The schools strive to offer a personalized learning experience to each student including an emphasis on self-expression, the celebration of First Nation culture, conversation and cooperation. Circle of Security training and understanding and/or training in Attachment Theory would be considered assets.

Application Requirements:

  • A current Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualifications
  • Must have an awareness and appreciation of First Nations Culture
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be willing to plan for, and participate in land-based teaching opportunities

  • A copy of Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certificate
  • A current criminal reference check
  • 3 professional references (one from a current supervisor)
