Accountabilities include operating, planning and management of corporate assets.
Develop and implement the Hydro One and System Operations goals/objectives/strategies/policies and procedures.
Support the Transmission System Control & Operating Planning Director by effectively managing, monitoring, controlling and reporting business performance.
Accountable for and promote the safety of the unit.
Evaluate staff training needs and recommend improvement programs as appropriate. Ensure completion of training courses and development of staff.
Responsible for the identification of work performance concerns, provide feedback, conduct performance appraisals and develop staff.
Provide direction to staff on the correct application of new or revised corporate standards, policies, procedures, and instructions and ensure the compliance with same.
Maintain a high level of public, customer, and employee relations.
Responsible for managing staffing needs, selection process, staff development, monitor adherence and ensure compliance to HR/Corporate policies and administering budgets.
Adhere to and administer Power Worker Union and Society of Energy Professionals collective agreements.
Provide input on yearly initiatives business plans pertaining to sustainment and improvement.
Ability to effectively supervise and lead teams to deliver high quality products on schedule with a minimum of supervision in a unionized environment.
Ability to foster long term learning and development of others.

Essential Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications:
Requires a thorough knowledge of quantitative and qualitative techniques, to perform analytical studies, evaluate risk and develop practical solutions to problems.
Requires a thorough knowledge of the OH&S Act & Regulations and Hydro One Health and Safety Policies.
Requires knowledge of electrical theory related to operating transmission/distribution electrical power systems and equipment.
Requires knowledge of Energy Management Systems or Network Management Systems.
Requires familiarity of the Ontario Electricity Market structure and rules and working knowledge of the key players in our industry.
Requires knowledge of technical writing for the preparation of contract documents, presentations, technical reports and specifications.
Familiarity with the Power Workers Union and Society collective agreements.
A period of 10 to 12 years is considered necessary to gain this experience and minimum Grade XII plus 3 years’ further concentrated study in the appropriate subjects.
Listening, Understanding and Responding, has the ability to accurately listen, understand and respond appropriately when interacting with individuals and groups.
Motivational, ability to instill motivation and driving staff and the unit to excel against a standard of excellence.
Excellent communication skills to advise customers, both internal and external, of significant events affecting the Company’s assets including critical infrastructure, safety and environmental issues.
