JOB POSTING – TRUCK AND COACH TECHNICIAN APPRENTICE

Hydro One and the Power Workers’ Union require individuals to work as Truck and Coach Technician Apprentices through the Hydro One /PWU Joint Mechanical Training Committee (JMTC). The JMTC is responsible for the establishment and maintenance of an apprenticeship training program as provided in Appendix “A” between Hydro One and the PWU.

Job Overview:

At Hydro One, Truck and Coach Technicians serve an apprenticeship to become a certified Truck and Coach Technician. As a Truck and Coach Technician apprentice, you are enrolled in and are expected to complete the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities Truck and Coach Technician apprenticeship.

As a member of the Hydro One Team, Truck and Coach Technicians service, maintain, diagnose, repair and modify all off-road and on-road transport and work equipment. This includes determining work and parts required, ensuring equipment is in service when needed and the installation of specialized auxiliary devices and associated equipment.

Apprentices also receive additional training to become a Transport and Work Equipment Journeyperson or a Regional Field Mechanic. This includes Hydro One and Utility Industry specific training.

Applicants for this work will be required to travel and work throughout the province and may be stationed at any Hydro One facility throughout the province.

Working Environment

Truck and Coach Mechanic Apprentices are required to travel and work throughout the province.  The work will appeal to those individuals that enjoy physical work that is primarily performed in shop locations and on field job sites that are outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
