All beaches on Beausoleil First Nation territory — including Christian, Beckwith and Hope islands, as well as Cedar Point — are closed until further notice as a COVID-19 protection measure.

“Beausoleil First Nation is still operating under a state of emergency,” according to a May 14 press release.

This council order will be strictly enforced, and the First Nation has requested support for patrols from the Anishinabek Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police.

“Charges will be laid against those who are found trespassing on Beausoleil First Nation territory while the state of emergency remains in effect,” the release reads.

As a COVID-19 protection measure, no non-residents — including cottagers and off-reserve band members — are allowed on Christian Island at this time.
