Bzindan: Youth and Elders speak truth through songwriting
Nogojiwanong Friendship Centre’s Cultural Coordinator, Nadia McLaren (Filmmaker: Muffins for Granny, 2007) was deeply moved by recent music videos created by Indigenous youth from remote areas of Ontario. She wondered what would happen if Elders were asked to contribute their wisdom to a similar project with youth in Peterborough. As a result, seven Elders and 12 youth came together to create a song and music video. Bzindan(Anishinaabemowin meaning “harmony”) is the stunning result of this collaboration.
