July 12, 2019 –

The Belle Park Master Plan is now available for review and comment at GetInvolved.CityofKingston.ca/Belle-Park until 4 p.m., Friday, July 26.

“The Belle Park Master Plan reflects the extensive consultation we’ve done with stakeholders, including Indigenous groups, and with other residents. It shows increased areas to be naturalized and offers recreational amenities closer to Montreal Street and the clubhouse,” says Neal Unsworth, the City of Kingston’s manager, parks development.

The plan offers a phased approach to long-term management of the 44-hectacre waterfront park at 731 Montreal St. and includes implementation details for these park elements:

  1. Natural environment
  2. Trails, access and views
  3. Social
  4. Cultural Heritage and Education
  5. Land Management
  6. Recreation
  7. Infrastructure

The Master Plan also contains a timeline with diagrams showing how different areas of the park – which is built on a former landfill site – have changed and are proposed to change over time.

You can review paper copies by contacting csames@cityofkingston.ca

The Belle Park Master Plan is expected to be presented to the arts, recreation and community policies committee at a special meeting on Sept. 4.
