A new funding stream backed by the provincial and federal governments has Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker excited about the possible local benefits.
The Green Infrastructure funding stream aims to invest in local water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure.
According to the press release put out by Walker’s office, municipalities with populations under 100,000 can apply for funding from a pool of $200 million to support infrastructure projects.
Walker says in an interview that “this is an ideal program, we’ve had lots of municipalities asking for a program like this.”
He notes that there is a focus on First Nations communities in the funding stream as well.
