Good morning and happy Canada Day week.

In case you were wondering, there will be no in-person Canada Day festivities Wednesday in downtown Ottawa. That has to be a first.

Now on to today’s news.

The opposition Conservatives are raising concerns about the Liberal government’s move to have the WE Charity administer the $900-million Canada Student Service Grant program.

Three Conservative MPs wrote to Auditor General Karen Hogan on Sunday arguing that “outsourcing” the administration of the program undermines Parliament’s ability to monitor the aid program.

“By outsourcing this program to a third party, the proper channels for Opposition scrutiny, the very bedrock of our parliamentary democracy, have been circumvented,” reads the letter signed by Conservative MPs Pierre Poilievre, Dan Albas and Raquel Dancho.
