The Huron Domestic Assault Review Team (DART) invites members of the community to gather on the National Day of Remembrance.

Hosted at Courthouse Square on Dec. 6, the ceremony will include the laying of 14 red roses. There will also be a reading of the names of the 14 victims from the Dec. 6, 1989 massacre at the l’Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal.

Commemorating the 14 young women whose lives ended by an act of gender-based violence, Dec. 6 is also an opportunity to reflect on the fact that women in the community, in Canada and in across the world continue to face violence each day.

Since 1991 the Parliament of Canada established a national day to mark the murders of those 14 women.
