National Indigenous Peoples Day festivities – Kenora Daily Miner

Anicinabe Park will be bustling with activity in a couple weeks.

On Thursday, June 21 the park will play host to National Indigenous Peoples Day celebrations put on by the Ne-Chee Friendship Centre. The theme for the 2018 celebration is honouring the past, recognizing the present, and empowering the future.

“One thing we tried to do this year was focus on a theme,” said Bob Albany, Indigenous Community Justice Program coordinator at Ne-Chee Friendship Centre. “We wanted to align the event with Truth and Reconciliation.”

There will be guest speakers throughout the day on topics which will also follow the theme for this year.
