Program welcomes housing concepts – The Chronicle Journal
The stage appears to be set to put an end to disheartening stories about dilapidated homes on remote First Nations.
Indigenous Service Canada on Thursday announced a $36-million “innovation” program for housing concepts that reflect aboriginal culture, utilize traditional building techniques and emphasize energy efficiency.
Of the total amount, $6 million will be made available for up to 24 development concepts, with the remaining $30 million earmarked for 15 concepts deemed worthy of being constructed.
