  • When: Thursday,  March 5, 2020, 6:30 – 8:30pm
  • Where: Trafalgar Campus, S235 Lecture Hall
  • Register today!

Excerpt from the final report:

“The truths shared in these National Inquiry hearings tell the story – or, more accurately, thousands of stories – of acts of genocide against Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQI people. The violence the National Inquiry heard amounts to a race-based genocide of Indigenous Peoples, including First Nations, Inuit and Métis, which especially targets women, girls and 2SLGBTQQIA people. This genocide has been empowered by colonial structures evidenced notably by the Indian Act, the Sixties Scoop, residential schools and breaches of human and Indigenous rights, leading directly to the current increased rates of violence, death, and suicide in Indigenous populations. ”

This event is co-hosted by Sheridan’s Centre for Indigenous Learning and Support and is sponsored by the Government of Canada, Equality Fund, Community Foundations Canada, and Oakville Community Foundation.

The Centre for Indigenous Learning and Support is part of Sheridan’s commitment to support the academic and personal success of all Indigenous students: Status, Non-Status, Metis, and Inuit.
