Agreement will help to fulfil growing market demand for Indigenous-themed tourism

A “ground-breaking” agreement between two organizations was signed during the Northern Ontario Tourism Summit in Timmins which will see greater promotion and development of Indigenous-themed tourism.

“Markets are demanding Indigenous tourism products and if you’re not involved with Indigenous tourism operators in some way, partnering and collaborating, you’re probably going to be left by the wayside eventually because markets are demanding it,” Kevin Eshkawkogan, president and CEO of Indigenous Tourism Ontario (ITO), told summit attendees moments before co-signing a memorandum of agreement with the president of Destination Northern Ontario (DNO).

ITO is an organization that focuses on uniting communities, Indigenous organizations and industry leaders to support the growth of Indigenous tourism in Ontario.
