Russell’s case is part of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls
COBOURG — Before her murder, Rachel Russell was many things — a mother, wife, sister, daughter, headstrong and fierce.
Nearly 10 years after her murder, those closest to Rachel Russell still don’t know who killed her or why she was murdered.
A passerby discovered Russell’s body on a path along the east-west train tracks commonly travelled by people heading between Ontario and Division streets in Cobourg on Nov. 12, 2007. Police believed Russell was murdered in late-October and her body went undiscovered. The cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma.
