Gross domestic product by industry, February 2020
Following three months of growth, real gross domestic product was essentially unchanged in February, as declines particularly in educational services, and disruptions in the transportation and warehousing sector stalled the economy.
Industrial product and raw materials price indexes, March 2020
The Industrial Product Price Index was down 0.9% in March, driven primarily by lower prices for refined petroleum energy products. The Raw Materials Price Index fell 15.6%, mostly due to lower prices for crude oil.
Payroll employment, earnings and hours, February 2020
The average weekly earnings of non-farm payroll employees were $1,046 in February, little changed from January. On a year-over-year basis, earnings rose 3.7%, mostly the result of increases observed from May to October 2019.
COVID-19 and social support for seniors
The social support systems of seniors living in private households play an important role in minimizing their exposure to the COVID-19 virus. In 2016, more than 8 in 10 seniors who lived in private households reported having a high level of social support. However, some groups such as low-income seniors and seniors who frequently experienced mental health conditions faced lower levels of social support than other seniors.
