The FNHMA National Conference is Next Week

Ottawa (November 1, 2018) – The Indigenous Reconciliation Group (IRG) is proud to be the platinum sponsor for this year’s First Nations Health Managers Association National Conference taking place November 5-7, 2018, in Banff, Alberta.

The First Nations Health Managers Association (FNHMA) is a national, professional association exclusively serving the needs of individuals working for or aspiring to positions with First Nations organizations. The FNHMA provides leadership in health management activities by developing and promoting quality standards, practices and research.

The FNHMA also certifies First Nations health managers through professional development and capacity building done through a standard curriculum.

Every year FNHMA members and supporters, community members, and health professionals gather to learn and address some of the challenges and solutions to running health services on reserve. This year’s workshop topics include responses to the opioid crisis, healthcare under treaty, addressing gaps in care for FN children, and so much more.

Participant registration for the Conference is the highest ever, with over 500 people registered to date.

“Building equity into the healthcare is system is a priority. I see no better way of doing that than building capacity and strength in our own people,” said Rose LeMay, CEO of the Indigenous Reconciliation Group.

“FNHMA is at the forefront of this change,” said LeMay, who is a certified First Nations health manager.

“The IRG shares a lot of the same core values as FNHMA. Putting our support behind the First Nations Health Managers Association National Conference just makes sense. It was an easy choice for us and we look forward to supporting a successful conference,” LeMay said.
