determiNATION Symposium 2018
determiNATION Symposium 2018
Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) is proud to announce the first-ever Indigenous-led summit building solutions for moving past the Indian Act, determiNATION. Held from May 23-24 at the Delta Ottawa City Centre, determiNATION will bring together thought leaders, activists, political leaders, academics, government representatives, Indigenous youth, traditional knowledge keepers, and Indigenous communities to create a framework for decolonization.
The two-day program, delivered in partnership with Osgoode Hall Law School, will build an understanding of the principles and mechanisms that underlie the Indigenous-government relationship with the goal of developing a concrete, actionable solution for overcoming those barriers and achieving Nation-to-Nation progress.
determiNATION provides an opportunity to experience, share, and learn from a wide breadth of individuals from different spheres. NAN strives to make this event as accessible as possible. If you cannot pay any of these fees and would like to attend the summit please contact NAN to discuss payment options. No one will be turned away.
NAN and Osgoode Hall value the use of the unceded territories of the Algonquin nation for this event and hope to support the self-determination of its traditional stewards through our shared work.
