We are looking for a Community Services Coordinator to work with the Senior Manager of Community Health & Wellness in the Moosonee geography. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating daily activities of the Transportation program and the Gathering Centre program while providing quality customer service to clients through effective recruitment, training and supervision of volunteers.

In this role, you will:

  • Schedule and conduct client assessments and update and maintain client assessment packages
  • Ensure the establishment of an effective plan of service/care that includes the client and caregiver in care and service planning
  • Respond to client inquiries while providing excellent customer service
  • Recruit, train and retain Transportation and Gathering Centre program volunteers
  • Liaise with community agencies/organizations to foster mutual understanding, coordination and create partnerships in support of related services and initiatives
  • Support administrative management of the Transportation and Gathering Centre programs
  • Follow all policies and procedures as required to contribute to a healthy and safe working environment
  • Perform other duties, as required

What we are looking for:

  • Two years experience in customer service or program coordination/development, preferably within the healthcare sector; with a diploma in Social Services or Gerontology. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Experience and/or knowledge related to Indigenous communities is a strong asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication in English is required; working knowledge of Cree is a strong asset.
  • Experience working with volunteers is an asset.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sound knowledge of various computer programs such as MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with CIMS, RAI instruments or other data management software is an asset
  • Strong communication, presentation, and customer service skills

Working Conditions

  • This position is based out of the Moosonee office location that is clean and comfortable, although in a remote area.
  • The incumbent must have the ability to travel throughout the Moosonee community and Northeast
  • Region and must have access to reliable transportation.
  • This position requires a successful Canadian criminal record check, reference check, local
  • Vulnerable Sector Check, valid provincial driver’s licence, satisfactory three-year Driver’s Abstract, and First Aid certification (training will be provided).
