Support the Manager, Planning & Work Management in implementing Company goals/objectives/strategies by providing effective leadership and direction in establishing and maintaining an effective project planning and scheduling services. Support project management and contributing departments in planning and managing projects. Develop, obtain approval for and maintain project scheduling policies, standards, templates and products. Support the management of Engineering and Construction Services projects and programs by providing consolidated information, reports and analysis. Develop and maintain a database of standardized schedule templates for the activities of Network Services, including the engineering & design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of high and low voltage station, line and telecom facilities.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

1.Manage staff engaged in the development and delivery of project planning and scheduling services. Plan, schedule, organize and assign work to ensure that quality and accuracy of work are maintained and on schedule. Provide advice, guidance and direction to staff in the resolution of work related problems, as well provide clear expectations and performance measures. Provide leadership through demonstration and response to staff requirements to achieve targets, plans, strategies and quality objectives to deliver service levels. Make effective recommendations on human resource issues, including career counselling, hiring, discharge, discipline and resolving work performance problems.

2.Manage the engineering and construction services scheduling services organization in the delivery of project planning and scheduling products and services to engineering and construction services project managers, departments and management.

3.Work with staff in other business units to communicate details of project planning and scheduling work processes along with standard documents, templates, applications, scheduling materials and to clarify roles and accountabilities.

4.Coordinate requests for planning and scheduling services from internal and external customers and assign project planners/scheduler staff and establish scheduling teams, as required. Review required work scope and communicate scheduling requirements to the appropriate staff in other departments and business units, under the direction of the Manager Planning & Work Management and the Project Manager.

5.Coordinate activities of individual planner/schedulers and scheduling team members to ensure all inputs are captured in a single master project schedule. Review risks in order to determine the level of mitigating float needed in the schedules.

6.Develop, integrate and maintain project planning standards, templates and other tools to improve quality and efficiency. Maintain databases of historic project timelines, approaches and other relevant data in order to provide accurate schedule templates and processes and to provide data that enables schedule accuracy to be continuously improved.

7.Work with external representatives to identify and integrate industry best practices as they relate to project planning and scheduling services and benchmarks. Exercise judgement and tact in explaining relevant benchmark pricing issues and/or persuading these external representatives to make exception to policies/processes or to change to ones more suitable to the Company.

8.Monitor and support project status review process and provide analysis of progress and issues. Provide feedback to project managers and management.

9.Assist in the preparation of the annual engineering and construction services work program including departmental workload forecasts and resource requirements. Develop scheduling models based on work program details and size, as required.

10.Participate in the integration of project management services including estimating, cost and performance analysis, project and portfolio reporting, risk fund management, etc.

11.Work closely with management to ensure that schedules are aligned with all other requirements and constraints.

12.Identify and support the deploying of new or updated versions of required applications such as Premavera.

13.Prepare monthly and ad-hoc project, program and management reports based on compiled data and associated analysis utilizing various data sources.

14.Conduct special studies and analysis.

15.Contribute in the development and documentation of Engineering and Construction Services business processes, systems and practices.At Hydro One we understand that the success and strength of our business rests with our people.
