Reporting to the Director, Sustainability, this position is responsible for supporting the development, integration and delivery of Hydro One’s Sustainability program inclusive of reporting, benchmarking, program implementation and metric compilation.

Job Description:

– Coordinate content development for the annual sustainability report in line with the SASB, TCFD, and GRI.

– Responsible for checking the accuracy of all the non-financial disclosures in our sustainability report.

– Respond to requests for corporate sustainability information from internal stakeholders

– Work cross-functionally across the business to help various lines of business implement their sustainability priorities and targets

– Develop and manage an internal system to effectively capture all relevant sustainability data to ensure its accuracy

– Track and monitor progress against internal goals and targets; external commitments and; scoring with rating agencies and indices

– Help prioritize and respond to incoming requests for sustainability data and information. Including responses to ESG surveys, rankings and ratings.

– Manage the Sustainability Working group and all other relevant working groups

– Act as the external and internal champion for Hydro One’s key sustainability commitments

– Develop and implement a plan to engage and educate colleagues on sustainability

– Stay current on sustainability issues to assist with the development and/or updating of corporate sustainability policies and standards and to advise on emerging sustainability performance indicators

– Track sustainability benchmark performance and key disclosure requirements

Selection Criteria:

  • A high level of knowledge and skill in the field of sustainability and ESG.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, able to build relationships and interact comfortably with a wide range of levels in the organization: from senior executives to support staff within and outside of the company.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across all levels of the company and various Lines of Business.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple demanding tasks at once as well as resolve complex problems and issues that arise.
  • Demonstrated experience in ESG reporting, including knowledge of SASB, TCFD and GRI.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with ESG rating agencies and replying to questions and requests for information.
  • Excellent knowledge of issues facing the electricity industry, ESG reporting standards and frameworks and relevant and emerging ESG issues.
  • Requires knowledge of sustainability and ESG.  This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the completion of 4 years of university training (Grade XII plus 4 years) and post-graduate college studies.
  • Minimum of 6-8 years’ experience working ESG, Sustainability.
