Social Media and Digital Communications Officer

Position Available: Immediately, Full Time

Overview:

Informing, educating and engaging our community is key to advancing the SNCC goals. This position is responsible for establishing, monitoring and evaluating digital communication channels, as well as content creation and digital asset management. The position is currently remote but a hybrid option will be considered in the future as need arises.

Responsibilities:

Communication Strategy

  • Measures the ongoing effectiveness of digital communications initiatives using analytical tools
  • Advises on the adoption of new and emerging digital communications strategies
  • Liaises with SNCC, SNGREC, and other service partners

Content Creation and Digital Asset Management

  • Responsible for writing, photography, video production, and editing original content
  • Creates digital assets and maintains an archive of all shared content

Social Media and Analytics

  • Contributes to the development of social media strategies and policies and takes the lead in their implementation
  • Identifies opportunities and leads the creation of engaging content for SNCC social media channels
  • Stays current on evolving social media and mobile platforms to advise on strategic direction

Website Coordination

  • Ensures readability, functionality, and accessibility of webpages
  • Supports SNCC and staff with web content management

Publication Production

  • Coordinates content, photography, design, printing for all information distribution required on Six Nations

Other

  • Additional communication duties as determined by SNCC

Qualifications:

  • Post Secondary degree or diploma preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in communication field required
  • Background in marketing/communications preferred
  • Experience with website design and photography would be an asset
  • Copy editing for spelling and grammar required
  • Experience working with Six Nations or other First Nations is preferred

  • Ability to respond to questions/comments from the public in a timely, professional, helpful and courteous manner regardless of customer attitude
  • Ability to meet and communicate service standards and track client satisfaction
  • Resolve conflict actively and constructively, engaging in difficult conversations to find collaborative solutions
  • Excellent human relation skills including the ability to develop and maintain constructive relationships with individuals in academic posts
  • Proven business-appropriate oral and written communications skills
  • Use multiple channels or means to communicate important messages (e.g., memos, newsletters, meetings, electronic mail)
  • Maintains confidentiality and demonstrates a sensitivity to diversity
  • Coordinate with SNCC Administration to create a communication budget and adhere to budget
  • Budget tracking

Technical Requirements:

  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office, Google Suite and WordPress
  • Intermediate experience with web content management tools
  • Intermediate experience with photo and video editing software
  • Experience with social media networks
  • Experience using Excel
