Special Projects Coordinator
Anishnawbe Health Toronto, a fully accredited community health centre, offers access to health care practitioners from many disciplines including Traditional Healers, Elders and Medicine People.
We are seeking a Special Projects Coordinator to become the newest member of a dynamic and fast-paced team. The successful candidate will be able to keep up with rapid change, have strong interpersonal skills, and be willing to take on new challenges.
The Special Projects Coordinator will provide project research, planning and implementation for organization-wide, key innovation transformation initiatives that will positively impact health and healing for Toronto’s Indigenous community. One of the key projects will be to support the construction of and move to a new home for Anishnawbe Health Toronto over the next few years that will bring all current AHT locations into one purpose-built health centre.
The successful candidate will work primarily at the Queen Street location and is expected to travel among the three AHT sites as needed.
Reports to: Executive Director
Duties & Responsibilities:
- With the Executive Director, internal stakeholders and external suppliers, coordinate all elements of project plan development and implementation for the construction of, and move to, a new home for Anishnawbe Health Toronto.
- Coordinate meetings with project and Board committees including setting meeting times, developing terms of reference and work plans, drafting agendas and preparing and disseminating minutes/action items.
- Provide research, analysis and implementation planning for new organization-wide strategic projects, including, but not limited to, a long-term care facility and a pilot program for an education program to support the reclamation of Traditional healing practices.
- Develop and draft organization-wide policies, processes and practices to ensure achievement of project goals.
- Assist in budget and resource development and monitoring for projects.
- Collect data, monitor and report on project progress to stakeholders, including internal teams and support for reporting to government and private funders.
- Participate in the creation and delivery of innovative presentations and proposals to all levels of the organization and external audiences as required.
- Support the Executive Director in government and public funder relations.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Undergraduate education in healthcare or business or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in large-scale project management in healthcare and/or social service environments, or equivalent.
- Experience with large-scale capital projects and/or long-term care an asset.
- Knowledge of Toronto’s Indigenous community and passion about urban healthcare and traditional healing practices an asset.
- Experience with project management processes and best practices.
- Excellent organizational, time management and project management skills.
- Superior problem solving and research abilities.
- Demonstrated effectiveness at working with teams.
- Effective interpersonal communications skills and ability to successfully build relationships at all organizational levels, including senior volunteers and external contacts.
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize information from a variety of sources and develop effective and comprehensive reports, briefings and presentations for various audiences, including executives, administrators, funders and clinicians.
- Superior writing skills.
- Strong working knowledge of computer applications, especially the Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in sensitive situations required.
