Algonquin land claim moving ahead – North Bay Nugget

East Ferris – The Algonquin Agreement-in-Principle has been signed by the three negotiators and land claim negotiations are moving forward, according to an email addressed to Mayor Bill Vrebosch from Aboriginal Minister David Zimmer.

The email dated July 6 is in response to a letter Vrebosch wrote in May regarding the lack of information and veil of secrecy surrounding the Algonquin land claim.

“The residents in this area are worried. They’re in limbo and have no idea what the plan is,” Vrebosch said Tuesday afternoon.

“The residents on Maple Lane were never brought to the table and their questions were never answered. I was never a believer of these types of secret politics.”
