Anishnawbe Health Foundation Appoints New Executive Director,

TORONTO (August 1, 2023) – “On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce Audrey Rochette as the new Executive Director of the Anishnawbe Health Foundation (AHF). Audrey brings a breadth of experience and extensive community work with Indigenous organizations, non-profits, government, academia, and Indigenous communities which will be an asset to the Foundation, notably as AHF’s first Indigenous Executive Director,” says Andre Morriseau, Chair, Anishnawbe Health Foundation.
Audrey Rochette is Anishinaabe from Waabadowgang-Whitesand First Nation. Throughout her career, Audrey has had a strong focus on implementing the work of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, as well as fostering Indigenous partnerships, building strategic frameworks, and managing operations.
Audrey is coming from George Brown College as the former Director of Indigenous Initiatives where she created the College’s first Indigenous Education Strategy. Audrey’s passion for Indigenous relations was cultivated through her roles in the Indigenous community as the Senior Development Officer with Indspire, an Indigenous-led registered charity that invests in the education of Indigenous people, and with imagineNATIVE, the largest Indigenous film festival in the world. She currently sits on several committees in different sectors committed to reconciliation work. She is the daughter of a residential school survivor.
Audrey holds a Master of Arts from the University of Toronto, with research focused on decolonizing museums, Indigenous voices, language, and ceremonies in museums.

Anishnawbe Health Foundation (AHF) is a registered charity that works to support an environment where the urban Indigenous community can heal spiritually, physically, and emotionally and to foster the reclamation, preservation, research, and application of traditional healing practices, including the sharing of these with all people.
AHF works closely and in partnership with Anishnawbe Health Toronto (AHT), a fully accredited Community Health Centre. The Centre’s mission is to improve the health and well-being of Indigenous peoples in spirit, mind, emotion, and body by providing traditional healing within a multi-disciplinary health care model.
