The aim was to include the Indigenous community in the annual Rock on the River festival weekend and showcase its culture.
“We have a pow wow showcase to have some dance demonstrations, exhibitions, round dancing, and intertribal spot dances,” said Melissa Blackned, event coordinator, on Friday as dancers like George Rose from Attawapiskat First Nation and others gathered in Hollinger Park for the grand entry.
