A beautifully decorated canoe garden filled with Indigenous plants, a special project of the Anglican Church of the Incarnation and the Super Ability Crew’s art club, will be officially recognized with a thanksgiving and blessing Sunday at 11:15 a.m.
In the woodland gardens surrounding the Anglican Church of the Incarnation, sits a special new addition.
It’s a beautifully decorated canoe filled with Indigenous plants, a special Indigenous garden project proposed by Cherry Collins, who leads the church’s community garden project that grows food for the Kerr Street Mission.
Collins is also a member of Incarnation’s eco-justice committee which presented the idea to the congregation, according to Reverend Brian Galligan, the church’s interim priest.
A location within the natural rain garden was chosen for the canoe which was donated and painted by the Super Ability Crew, a diverse group of youth and adults of all abilities, united in their mission to inspire, learn and change stigmas while building a strong community, said Galligan.
