Justice and community services students spend three days on a remote excursion to gain a better understanding of Indigenous culture so they can better serve Indigenous clients
For the second year, Cambrian College has given its justice and community service students a unique wilderness experience that is designed to improve their knowledge of Indigenous culture.
In September, the students took part in Awaken, a three-day remote excursion where they were immersed in Indigenous culture and teachings that “foster belonging, mastery, independence and generosity.”
Cellphones and other modern conveniences were not allowed, and a strict schedule was followed.
