The City of Kitchener, in collaboration with the Waterloo Region Small Business Centre (WRSBC), hosts a monthly speaker series, called SDG Talks, to explore the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and how we, as individuals, can help create a more socially and environmentally sustainable planet. The theme of the series is Business as a Force for Good.

This month, we are excited to be hosting a fireside chat with award-winning social entrepreneur Jenn Harper – Founder and CEO of Cheekbone Beauty, a revolutionary, Indigenous-owned beauty brand which features high-quality, vegan, cruelty-free beauty products designed for low environmental impact. Keeping in line with her Anishinaabe roots, Jenn has worked with chemists and sustainability experts to create products that incorporate beauty and sustainability.

Jenn will share how she navigates the world of business as a woman and how gender equality has impacted her as an entrepreneur. Join us for an evening of engaging conversation, networking, and light refreshments as we discuss what gender equality means and how we can act to fight gender inequality in our personal and professional lives.

This event will take place on Wednesday, March 22 from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Kitchener City Hall (200 King St. W.) to raise awareness and accountability for the sustainable development goals. All are welcome to attend. To register for this session, visit SDGSpeakerSeries.eventbrite.ca.

Over the next year, the City of Kitchener and community partners will invite speakers to present topics related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as part of a series of seventeen sessions. Topics for future sessions will be announced closer to the session dates.
