OTTAWA ON– The Public Policy Forum, together with our presenting partner the Canadian Medical Association and event partners, is pleased to present a one-day conference on Wednesday, Sept. 27 focused on reconciliation and strategies for implementing the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s health-related calls to action while building a healthcare system of cultural competence for Indigenous inclusion in Canada. In addition to the keynote speaker, Minister of Indigenous Services Jane Philpott, confirmed panelists include Dr. Laurent Marcoux. President, Canadian Medical Association, Dr. Renee Linklater, Director, Aboriginal Engagement and Outreach, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and Dr. Alika Lafontaine, anesthesiologist, Board Member with HealthcareCAN and Indigenous Physicians Association of Canada.

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission has eight calls to action relating to health. Organizations –  including the Canadian Medical Association, the conference’s presenting partner – are seeking to implement them in ways that respect cultural competencies and achieve their objectives.
