Diversity Procurement Fair 2021

CAMSC’s 17th Diversity Procurement Fair (Virtual) – Breakthrough to Brilliance – was about making connections that build strong partnerships, collaborating and brainstorming fresh insights from diverse businesses

(Toronto, April 23, 2021) – Building on the success of CAMSC’s first virtual conference in July 2020, more than 500 virtual attendees of this multi-day business facilitation and networking event learned how to maximize their commitment to supplier diversity in an adapting world. Leaders from industries such as automotive, food, pharmaceutical, and artificial intelligence participated in a wide range of online webinars as well as met with our diverse suppliers.

Day One kicked off with a Fireside Chat between Lloyd Switzer, CPO of Telus and Cassandra Dorrington, President and CEO of CAMSC, sharing insights into how CPO’s can ensure an inclusive approach to their supply chain. This was followed by a Keynote address from Teri Dennis-Davies, Senior Vice President of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at MLSE, speaking about “Expanding Pathways to Prosperity through Inclusive Procurement.” A wide variety of engaging industry panels followed, and the day closed with a brand-new format to the INVITE ONLY session – The Corporate Member Forum along with the Supplier Bootcamp. This effort gave focused attention to our Corporate members and Supplier network.

Day Two was packed with content including the Export Forum, more engaging industry panels from the government, food & beverage, construction and energy sectors and the launch of the CAMSC “Pitch for Success” competition, where 4 finalists pitched their business ideas to a panel of judges for a chance to be awarded a business-changing array of prizes. We rounded out Day 2 with a “Cocktails, Conversation and Connection” virtual reception – where we welcomed new members, created a signature “4-C-Able Breakthroughs” Cocktail, and built connections using small, virtual networking groups.

To provide even more business opportunities for Corporate Suppliers to meet with Corporate Members and vice versa, the Meeting Marketplace matchmaking event has been expanded to two days – April 27 & 28, 2021. Over 300 virtual matchmaking meetings will help diverse suppliers to build valuable business partnerships.

“As Canada looks to reopen, resume, and grow our economy, we will need to utilize the strengths, skills and innovation of all suppliers inclusive of those previously underrepresented at the table. It is for this reason that supplier diversity is and will continue to be an important factor as we work to build sustainability in our local, national and global supply chains”, said Cassandra Dorrington, President, CAMSC

CAMSC’s Business Achievement Awards Gala is the organization’s next virtual event. It recognizes leaders in supplier diversity. The event is scheduled to take place on September 30th, 2021 and nomination details will be communicated soon! CAMSC certified members can nominate themselves or someone they do business with.
