G7 summit to wrap up later today as Conservatives force vote on call to end ‘ban on gas-powered vehicles’ – iPolitics

In the wake of an event-packed opening day that, in addition to the scheduled high-level closed-door meetings, included a trade-focused tête-à-tête between Prime Minister Mark Carney and U.S. President Donald Trump that resulted in an agreement to aim for a cross-border deal within 30 days and, a few hours later, an earlier-than-expected departure by Trump himself, who is now back in Washington, D.C., the G7 summit in Kananaskis is nevertheless expected to continue this morning.

As per the official programme, today’s proceedings are slated to kick off with an “official welcome” of “invited leaders,” including NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ukrainian president Volodomyr Zelensky and other non-G7 VIP guests, which will be followed by a “working breakfast session” on a “strong and sovereign Ukraine,” as well as a “closing session” to wind down the G7 summit itself.
