New proposed structure transitions to a bridge, causeway, low-level bridge design.

The Georgina Island First Nation (GIFN) chief and council have endorsed significant updates to the Georgina Island Fixed Link (GIFL) Project based on community feedback.

Transition to improved fixed link structure

  • Original structure: causeway, bridge, causeway.
  • New structure: bridge, causeway, low-level bridge to better protect Lake Simcoe’s ecology.
