Grants for Projects by Aboriginal and Culturally Diverse* Curators

by ahnationtalk on August 7, 2015528 Views

Toronto, August 6, 2015 – The Ontario Arts Council (OAC)’s Aboriginal Curatorial Projects and Culturally Diverse Curatorial Projects programs provide grants of up to $30,000.

The programs support the work of independent Aboriginal or culturally diverse curators to develop a visual, media arts or craft exhibition project that presents and documents the work of professional artists in an Ontario venue. The programs aim to invest in the exhibition infrastructure of Ontario, and to build connections between galleries, audiences and Aboriginal and culturally diverse curators.

These grants are available to public art galleries, artist-run centres and other presenting organizations working with independent Aboriginal or culturally diverse curators on an eligible project.

Both curatorial programs are open to organizations that meet program eligibility criteria, including those that already receive operating funding from the visual arts office at OAC.

The deadline for these programs is October 1, 2015.

* Culturally diverse refers to persons of colour based on the Government of Canada’s definition of “visible minorities,” which is “persons, other than Aboriginal peoples, who are non-Caucasian in race or non-white in colour.”
